It's a never-ending cycle (genre study has been my particular interest of late).

We define horror and then horror defines us. Thus enmeshed, we define horror further and that furthered definition refines our definitions of ourselves. And and on and on and on.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01954838068836802591noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4392175801175270335.post-54362679671028145362011-02-27T23:03:06.957-05:002011-02-27T23:03:06.957-05:00U R 2 kind, r/e!U R 2 kind, r/e!Max the drunken severed headhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05373555992387523559noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4392175801175270335.post-83862891579732900802011-02-27T18:42:15.258-05:002011-02-27T18:42:15.258-05:00One of the best written (thoughtful, perceptive) p...One of the best written (thoughtful, perceptive) posts I've read on this interesting topic; and great use of pictures to illustrate your points! (There were 2 links posted for Shrimpy--hope you cheecked them both out.)

Gene Moss, who played Dr. Von Schtick, was a funny writer and performer. You can find mp3 copies of his great '60s novelty LP, "Dracula's Greatest Hits" by poking around on the web for it. (It's not on CD, alas.) No shame, ...Thanks for leaving a comment, my dear.

No shame, nothing to feel guilty about. ;-) Dolls are totemic, and I'm sure you are able to attune yourself to what charms old horror icons still has to offer. So the cute versions you have of the once frightening kings and queens of monsterdom are just another representation, and not a put down of them.Max the drunken severed headhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05373555992387523559noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4392175801175270335.post-20189207225515759332011-02-25T01:44:48.216-05:002011-02-25T01:44:48.216-05:00As much as I hate to admit it, I think these littl...As much as I hate to admit it, I think these little plush monsters are adorable and I actually own a couple of the "Monster High" dolls. *hangs head in shame* I chalk it up to being a pop culture junkie and also to being deprived of horror as a kid. I'm probably indulging my demented inner child (who totally loves this stuff). :D I find this series of posts fascinating and I'm really enjoying reading all the responses from the LOTTD members.Tabithahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16879892292472669856noreply@blogger.com
