Hafta share this late Christmas gift!

This video, just posted elsewhere on the net is an 8 minute condensed version of Dicken's immortal "A Christmas Carol," as assembled by my friend Craig Wichman and edited by Jay Stern. I just had to re-share it here:

Seen here as Ebeneezer Scrooge--from various film and television adaptations--are Sir Seymour Hicks, Reginald Owen, Alastair Sim, Basil Rathbone, Frederic March, Mr. Magoo (as voiced by Jim Backus), Albert Finney, Michael Caine, Patrick Stewart and Kelsey Grammer.

I've always loved this sometimes dark, sometimes sad, sometimes spooky holiday tale. And this condensed Christmas Carol is no humbug!

  2. Oh hey! I recognize this clip :) I was at the KEVIN GEEKS OUT event where it was shown last month. And yes, the Kelsey Grammer film looks just as cringe-worthy now as it did through beer-goggles...

    Thanks for posting this!

  3. Frog Queen, thanks for the kind words. Of course the Muppet version made the cut; against the odds - humans interacting with talking socks! - it's a worthy version of the tale, with an excellent Scrooge.

Kate, thanks for coming downtown - hope to see you at another of Kevin's soirees! And yes indeed, the Grammer was included out of historical fairness, not quality (oy...!)

Friend Max, thanks for the post - and good job flagging the Ebs! Now, in a variation of the game we played at the live show: what OTHER actors can anyone name in the short? (Starting with the guy who plays TWO roles in it...)

    Keep Christmas all the year,
    -Craig

P.S. - And for those of us who like a little Audio in their diet, here's a fuller CAROL of mine, also with the participation of Mr. Stern:

  4. Thanks for your comments, FQ, Kate, and Craig!

Craig's audio adaptation of "Christmas Carol" is not to be missed! Click on the link and save it for an annual listen!

Craig, the other actors seen (or heard) include Gene Lockhart, Jason Alexander, Ernest Thesiger, Frank Findlay, Alec Guiness, Leo G. Carroll, Miles Malleson, Frank Oz and Edward Woodward. And many others, whose names I can't remember right now.

  5. All good so far, Max - and yes, there are more (two of whom are related to one you already cited...)
