Too early!

I've been meaning to bitch about this [;)]. WALGREEN'S and MICHAEL'S stores have had HALLOWEEN items out for nearly a month now!!

AAAAARRGGGHH!

I propose that we start celebrating Halloween on St. Patrick's Day and Christmas on Labor Day just to get ahead of the damn retailers who want us to never forget about all the holiday crap they have to sell us.

Oh, well. I strive to keep Halloween in my heart all the year 'round, in spite of 'em. I can find Halloween in my back yard, if I look. (I can find spiders and king snakes on foggy mornings back there.) I don't even need to go to a store for Halloween.

Considering that at places like Target, you have to wait for the Back To School products to be removed near the end of September before the Halloween stock slowly gets moved in, and then watch the Halloween items get sequestered to a smaller and smaller area until they they are squeezed out altogether before Halloween is actually here in order to make room for Christmas crap, I'm glad there are some places that like accommodate those of us with a passion for Halloween.

The Michaels' near me still doesn't have much except some horrendous "bling" Halloween items, such as skulls meant to look like the Damien Hirst diamond covered skull, I'm anxious to get my hands on some more useful items so I can get this year's decor underway.

You make a good point, John. And count me in for the countdown in October!

I'm all for Halloween stuff being put out as early as possible!

Guess I'm in the minority here!

I always like to see Halloween and spooky/monstrous merchandise, but If I see it in July, by October I'm tired of seeing it. I just miss the feelings of delight I had as a kid when seeing Halloween stuff meant was actually coming soon!

But I've got some Halloween stuff out all year round in my house, so I guess I'm a mess o' inconsistency.

Here! Here! Capitol idea my friend! For me, Valentines Day IS more scary than Halloween anyway! Shake up your calendars folks, things are dull and predictable enough already!

I agree with YOU. No matter what Ministry says, if every day is Halloween, Halloween won't be Halloween anymore. And that would be a tragedy of epic proportions.

I plan for Halloween most of the year, but I only want to shop for it when it's actually fall.

man your lucky. no halloween stuff here in the city yet. candy would be puddles by september i guess. too hot and humid. that said i could go for a bag of 'fun size' snickers right about now.

i agree though too soon. i just want cheap candy. i'm a glutton.

In honor of this post I went out and bought my first Halloween items for this year.

You'd honor this post a lot more if you'd tell us what you *bought*, Mr. Vague McSnarky!
